Life is good, so he supports raise for ministers

TO ME, our Cabinet ministers deserve to be paid more than they will ask.

Singapore is the entrepreneur and the Cabinet members are the CEOs. Commercially, the return on investments (ROI) had been at sterling rates. Socially, they protect everyone living in or visiting the country well. They protect every piece of asset the people or the state has well.

Their workloads are very heavy and their play times are little. They perform well. Therefore, there is a lot to sacrifice. Society needs help all the time and this is the way they do their part.

To measure the ROI, estimate the value of the state's assets (fixed and current) and divide the appreciated value by the number of years Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and his team spent to build the country.

I have travelled the Asia Pacific a lot, and elsewhere less, for work or play for more than 40 years. Singapore provides personal safety few can match and a life many will admire. Here is one example. In one country, my MNC client's local middle manager had his gatekeeper watch the main gate with an M-16.

Going forward, the Cabinet is helping the country to prosper economically and socially. The ministers will do better with more support from the people. A tested system is in place to select Cabinet members.

Up to today, our Cabinet members had been asking for less than what they deserved. People in the social sciences say that behavioural pattern is what you can count on. Our Cabinet had been good.

I will support what the members ask.
