Stringent restrictions

ALL travellers flying out of Changi or Seletar airports will be subject to stringent restrictions on liquids, gels and aerosols in their hand luggage.

Examples of restricted items:

  • Drinks, including water and juices
  • Soups and sauces

  • Cosmetics such as mascara and lip gloss

  • Contact-lens solutions
  • Gels, including hair and shower gels

  • Creams, balms, lotions and oils

    THE RULES

  • All liquids, gels and aerosols must be stored in containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each.
  • All the containers must be packed in a re-sealable and transparent plastic bag with a maximum capacity not exceeding one litre.
  • Each traveller is allowed just one bag, which will be visually checked at security screening points.
  • There are no restrictions on the amount of liquids, gels and aerosols in check-in luggage.

    THE EXEMPTIONS

  • Medicines like cough syrups, nasal sprays and insulin will be allowed in reasonable quantities - enough for the flight.

While not compulsory, a doctor's prescription letter will help facilitate the screening process.

  • Baby food like milk, juice, porridge and hot water in a flask will be allowed if there is a baby travelling with the adult passenger.

Milk powder is not a restricted item.

(Passengers may be asked to taste the medicines/baby food.)

    DUTY-FREE SHOPPING

  • There are no restrictions on duty-free shopping at Changi Airport.

Items like alcohol and perfume will be packed in sealed plastic bags by the shops, with the receipts clearly displayed. Passengers should not tamper with the sealed bags.

Other airports may have different rules so passengers transiting at another airport should check with their airlines on what is allowed and what is not.
